RTOGuard vs calling every COD order
Confirming every COD order by phone works at small volume and breaks as you grow. Here is how a scored Call list changes the work.
Many stores already confirm COD orders by phone. The question is not whether to confirm; it is which orders, and how your team knows. This compares calling every COD order with calling only the risky ones from a scored list.
| Call every COD order | RTOGuard Call list | |
|---|---|---|
| Orders your team calls | All of them | Only the ones scored risky, with the reason |
| Time per day | Grows with every order | Roughly a third of the COD orders, or fewer, depending on your settings |
| What the caller knows | Name, phone, order | Plus the risk reason, address gaps and the buyer's earlier orders with you |
| Low-risk orders | Also delayed for a call | Ship straight away |
| Record of outcomes | Spreadsheet or memory | Confirmed, Cancelled, Not reachable, Call back on the order |
| Learns which ads bring returns | No | Yes, real ROAS per campaign, ad set and ad |
| Cost | Staff time | Free for 100 COD orders a month; Starter US$19.99 |
Our honest take
Calling everyone works at 10 orders a day and breaks at 100. It also delays the good orders, which hurts delivery speed and sometimes causes the very cancellations you were trying to avoid.
A scored list flips the ratio: most orders ship untouched, and the team spends its time on the few that need a check, with the reason in front of them. RTOGuard does not make the calls for you today. The Call list has a "Message on WhatsApp" link that opens WhatsApp on your own phone, and automatic WhatsApp confirmation is coming soon.

Questions people ask
Does RTOGuard call or message buyers automatically?
Not yet. Today it scores every COD order, tags it in Shopify and puts risky ones on a Call list with a call script and a Message on WhatsApp link that opens WhatsApp on your team's own phone. Automatic WhatsApp confirmation is coming soon and will be clearly marked when it is live.
How does RTOGuard decide which orders are risky?
From signals on the order itself: pin code history, phone number patterns, the buyer's earlier orders with your store, address quality and order value. Each COD order gets a 0 to 100 score; you choose the threshold for the Call list.
What if the buyer does not pick up?
Log Not reachable or Call back on the order. High-risk orders can be held until someone confirms; you decide to Ship it or Cancel order. Nothing is cancelled by itself.
Can I keep calling everyone and still use RTOGuard?
Yes. Many teams start that way and use the score to order the queue, then narrow the list as they trust it.
